ATC - Artist Trading Cards - M. Vänçi Stirnemann originated the idea in 1996, holding trading sessions in Zurich, Switzerland.
Clubs and trading sessions have largely replaced the original concept of trading the cards during individual encounters, and many ATC workshops end with a trading session.

ACEO: Art Card, Editions & Originals - An offshoot of Artist Trading Cards are the "Art Cards, Editions, and Originals" (ACEO). ACEOs originated when some artists began to create cards to sell, in addition to trading among themselves.

The name was changed to ACEO when artists started to sell rather then trade - the reason for the change is every bit as mysterious as the use of Plein Air - a term that no one typically uses or knows the meaning of unless you are, in fact, doing it. So I tried a couple - the format is the same size as baseball trading cards. I like to work large (as you know) but I've noticed that working on a 6"x 8" format is challenging and puts a lot of emphasis on brush stroking - as you can imagine, working even smaller further emphasizes stroking, lack of detail, and simplicity - get the pure essence of the thing down because there just ain't no room for anything else. The one pictured here is Watercolor Pencil and Watercolor, but I've also tried Oils and just Watercolor.
More photos of my ATC's are located here:
I've been listing these for sale on eBay as well.
Go to http://www.ebay.com and do a search for ACEO - my ID on ebay is paintingoutthere (no spaces) and that should bring up whatever I have listed and a whole lot more.
Try some of these - they're easy and quick and use up almost no materials.
have fun
