and this time it's painting demonstrations on YOU TUBE.  And everyone that has a camera is here (including yours truly) with their "fool proof, easy, gonna change your life" methods in water colors, oils, acrylics, pastels, and stuff you've never heard of - here are some of the good guys:

Richard Robinson  
One of my favorites, stylistically and tempermentally - easy to understand and listen to and dedicated to the fine points of plein air and quick fresh studio work as well.  He also has a newsletter service and some "private" free lessons that you can participate in as well as a free e-book that i'll give you the address for later.

Paul Taggard
I love this guy and admire his perserverance and doggedness and hate his perserverence and doggedness!! And/but he explains things clearly and over and over again so that you can't help but eventually "get it".  His instruction videos are "all media" so just take your choice and settle in for a real "journey".

SPOILING FOR SKOILS:

SKOILS are SKetches in OILS, painted in one go (ala prima) and completed in about 45 minutes on loose canvas - 9x12 size (because that's half of a full sheet of loose canvas).  - lots of fun and lots of nice clouds lately:

hualalai morning clouds - plein air skoil - 9x6

late morning west - plein air skoil - 9x6

These paintings haven't been shown anywhere yet - I'll let you know when and where.

Nearly completed an oil last week as well - will post that when it's done along with a movie of it if i can figure out how to do it. These are two more watercolor/watercolor pencil sketches and a great technique for painting out there - you carry virtually no furniture and the load is very light - perfect for aug/september on the big island.

My Old Office at the Kona Inn - 7x5 - Watercolors and watercolor pencils

Decided to PAINT OUT THERE yesterday at two of my favorite close in spots - The Kona Inn and Magic Sands. I used to have an Office (put that in italics) at the Tower at the Kona Inn (upper painting) - I had the second, third, and fourth floors - each of which was about a 12' x 12' square - but the top floor, where I had my drafting set-up, had a walkway all the way around with spectacular views - even a view of the pier where they used to bring in each day's game catch to weigh.

" Dorion's" at Magic Sands Beach - 7x5 - Watercolors and watercolor pencils

Not much sand here at Magic Sand beach after the high surf from last week. I remember this restaurant used to be called "Dorion's" owned by the best one-armed bartendar on the Island - but then that was back in the "one-stop-light" days in Kona.


These are both Water Color Pencils and Water Colors - I'm trying to find a way to use water colors the way I like to use oils and I think I've succeeded.
