The sun was so bright that I could hardly look at this scene from my vantage point in the shade, but yellow just wasn't hot enough to bring it off - I think this cad red did. You also might notice that I'd bought a tube of purple which i used liberally in the clouds and espectially the driftwood. I really like the blobs of color on the wood to show highlights through the shadow covering and the way people and boats on the far beach are shown only as an impression of activity.
Painting En Plein Air is a personal and sometimes physical challenge. This journal describes that journey and the people that I travel with on that path.
